CAN-DO typically does not assist people with clemency petitions but there have been a few that CAN-DO could not let fall through the cracks. Josie was one of those people who was not going to receive assistance to get her petition filed, so we reached out to Jason Hernandez of <a href=\"http:\/\/crackopenthedoor.com\">Crack Open the Door<\/a>; the first latino to receive clemency from President Obama.\u00a0\u00a0Without hesitation he agreed to help Josie get her petition filed. CAN-DO sent <a href=\"http:\/\/fusion.net\/story\/255889\/why-hasnt-president-obama-granted-clemency-to-a-single-latina-inmate\/\">Jason\u2019s Op Ed to Fusion<\/a> that focused on Josie\u2019s case and Jason rallied the hispanic community to get behind Josie, plus additional Latino cases. \u00a0Josie&#8217;s clemency is a heartwarming victory for everyone involved, but mostly for Josie and her family, who were also hands on, especially Josie&#8217;s daughter, Lizette Ledesma. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EK53eqtvt78\">Channel 7 interviewed the family<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d1KoU6tNgoA\"> Fox 11 L.A.<\/a> aired a second, follow up segment on Josie\u2019s clemency with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d1KoU6tNgoA\">Amy Povah and Miquelle West<\/a> (daughter of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.candoclemency.com\/two-life-sentences-plus-50-years\/\">#3 on Top 25 Michelle West<\/a>) as guests.<\/p>\n<p>Please consider signing this petition for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/barack-obama-clemency-needed-for-25-deserving-women\">Top 25 Women<\/a> &#8211; we have already replaced the names of those who received clemency with four additional deserving applicants on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.candoclemency.com\/the-top-25-women-deserving-clemency\/\">Top 25 Women webpage.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/f\/help-my-mom-start-her-new-life-after-clemency?source_location=petition_show\">Josephine Ledezma has a fundraiser on change.org<\/a>\u00a0and only needs less than $2,500 to reach the $10,000 goal &#8211; please consider giving even a small amount &#8211; ALL PROCEEDS go to Josephine. \u00a0CAN-DO does not receive one dime.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/f\/help-antonio-lopez-start-his-new-life-after-clemency?source_location=petition_show\">Antonio Lopez also has a fundraiser on his change.org petition.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Watch out 7 minute video of clemency success stories!
