Name:<\/strong> Connie Farris #41922-048 Accomplishments: \u00a0<\/strong>Connie’s health related issues:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hypertension, Benign Essential, Chronic pain syndrome, Dematitis\/eczema, Knee and Leg Pain, back pain, hyperlipidemia, Pulpal necrosis, Dental caries, Periapical abscess, Knee replacement, Left and Right knees, Nuclear cataract, Hordeolum externum, Blepharitis, Swelling of limb, Renal insufficency, DO of Kidney and Ureter, Ankle, foot-Pain in Joint, Secondary hyperparathyroidsm, Forearm, contusion, Neoplasm bone, soft tissue, and skin, Disorder of eyelid, Edema, Vitamin D. Deficiency, steroid injection or surgical removal of chalazion, heart stent, right, post polio syndrome.<\/p>\n Connie’s story: <\/strong><\/p>\n I am 73 years old and currently incarcerated in a Satellite Camp, in California. I am a first-time offender, white collar crime of mail fraud. My custody level is zero, I have programmed and taught the Getting Out by Going In (GOGI) program for 4 years.\u00a0 I have been incarcerated for 7 years on a 12-year sentence.\u00a0 My husband and I have been married for 53 years. \u00a0Rex has muscular dystrophy that is wasting away his body and his life. We have no children, no family, no one except the two of us.\u00a0 In October of 2015, I filed for Compassionate Release with Warden Iwuagwu\u2019s approval. February of 2016: \u00a0Ms. Kathleen M. Kenney, Assistant Director\/General Counsel denied the Compassionate Release stating, “Ms. Farris, RIS request fails to show that her husband is incapacitated within the meaning of the program statement.”\u00a0 Bureau policy states that incapacitation means the spouse cannot carry on any self-care and is totally confined to a bed or chair. It goes to General Counsel and then in January of 2017:\u00a0 United States Correctional Programs Division of the Justice Department\u00a0 Angela Danbar, Assistant Director states:\u00a0 Upon review FARRIS MEETS THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS of Program Statement 5050.49 Compassionate Release\/Reduction in Sentence. THE CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS RIS REQUEST.\u00a0 Inmate Farris has no criminal history and has maintained clean conduct during this term of incarceration. She is scored as “Out” custody with “Minimum” security. July 2017: Mr. Ken Hyle Acting Assistant Director\/General Counsel issued denial due to the nature and circumstances surrounding the offense.\u00a0 The letter of denial list “Offense Conduct” and the restitution. These statements were taken directly from the existing PSR report, which has been in error.\u00a0 The restitution was reversed\/reduced by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I\u2019ve had a letter from her for every week for 6 years except the first couple of weeks. That’s over 300 letters, but she didn’t start doing this for a couple months, and then it was just drawing hearts, then butterflies, flowers, etc., etc., and she’s gotten pretty good at it.
